LSU Shreveport Inducts 21 Students into Honor Society

LSUS Omicron Delta KappaThe Pilot's Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, The National Leadership Honor Society, initiated 21 new members on April 29, 2011.


Membership is awarded to undergraduate junior and senior students and to graduate students who rank in the upper 35 percent in scholarship of their school or college and must show leadership in at least one of five phases of campus life: scholarship; athletics; campus or community service, social and religious activities and campus government; journalism, speech, and the mass media; or creative and performing arts. An individual achieving distinction in his or her profession or rendering outstanding service through leadership may be elected to honorary membership.

The initiation ceremony was conducted by Mr. Long Truong, president; Dr. Stephen W. Banks, biology professor and secretary; Dr. Beverly J. Burden, associate professor of biology and treasurer; Mr. Wayne Hogue, instructor of management and marketing and faculty advisor; and Mr. Brandon Bird, Pilot's Circle Member.

This year the guest speaker was Mr. Wayne Hogue, M.B.A., Instructor of Management and Marketing and Director and Architect of the LSUS LEAD Program. Hogue delivered a speech describing the essential requirements for leadership in today's society.
