LSU Shreveport Graduate Selected to Speak at National Political Summit

LSU Shreveport graduate Deanna Candler ‘11 has been selected as a 2011 Eagle Forum Collegiate Scholar and invited to speak at their annual summit in Washington, D.C.


Candler will be attending the Eagle Forum Collegians Summit in Washington, D.C. from June 1-4, where she will also be attending several events to honor the Scholars, including a reception hosted by businessman Donald Trump.

Applicants from all over the nation were invited to apply for the scholarship. Recipients were chosen based on their resume, application and an essay. Based on the essays, ten students were chosen to address the conference.

Political Activist Phyllis Schlafly started Eagle Forum Collegians in 1993 to encourage students to get involved in the issues being discussed and promoted on college and university campuses across the country. Eagle Forum Collegians is comprised of college students dedicated to promoting conservatism on college campuses by hosting knowledgeable speakers and authors, writing for campus newspapers, promoting and campaigning for local conservative candidates, speaking up in class, and participating in or starting conservative clubs on campus.
