LSU Shreveport Faculty Member Directs Play at Local Theater
July 20, 2012LSU Shreveport Associate Professor of Communications Robert Alford will direct the play "Fences" by August Wilson at Shreveport Little Theater. Performances are scheduled for August 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 at 8 p.m. and August 5 and 12 at 2 p.m.
"Fences" is set in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1957. The central character, Troy, is excluded from Major League Baseball, and bitterness soon takes its toll on his relationships with both his wife and son. The drama has won both the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Joining veteran actor Sy Richardson are local actors Sylvia Rachal, Harvard Taylor, Travion Davis, Charles Montgomery, Jonathan D. Jackson, and Bethany Williams.
"Fences" is a collaborative production between LSU Shreveport Black Box Theatre and Shreveport Little Theatre, supported by a grant from Shreveport Regional Arts Council and the Louisiana Division of the Arts.
