LSU Shreveport Faculty and Staff Receive National Honors

Two LSU Shreveport faculty and staff members have been appointed to national positions. 

LSU Shreveport Assistant Professor of European History Dr. Alexander Mikaberidze has been elected a Fellow of the British Royal Historical Society. Founded in 1868, the Royal Historical Society remains one of the foremost historical societies in Europe. Its fellowships are awarded to those who have made "an original contribution to historical scholarship in the form of significant published work." Dr. Mikaberidze has been teaching at LSU Shreveport since 2007 and is an award-winning author of eight books.

Gina Starnes, Director of Career Services at LSU Shreveport, has been appointed Vice President of the Southeastern Federal Recruiters Council (SERFC) for 2011-2012. The SEFRC is a member-driven nonprofit association providing resources and professional development events to assist college/university career services, federal government recruitment professionals and human capital officers. Starnes also holds leadership positions in other organizations: Administrator Advisor, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, LSU Shreveport Chapter, 2010-2012; Chair of Executive Committee ARK-LA-TX Regional College Career Fair Consortium, 2009- 2012; and Vice President-Shreveport, FBI Citizen's Academy Alumni Association, 2009-2012.
