LSU Shreveport Debate Team Wins First Season Tournament

The LSU Shreveport Debate Team won its first tournament of the season by defeating eleven other colleges and universities at Henderson State University. The team earned eleven awards, including the top award in the tournament.
The team entered 15 competitors, advancing 9 to the elimination rounds with a total record of 57 wins and 33 losses. The LSUS team held off the competition to win the Debate Sweepstakes award and the tournament. The team placed first with 66 total points, followed by Union University in second place with 60 points and Sam Houston State University in third with 50 points. This first win gives LSUS a 6 point lead in the IPDA National standings.
The team will compete in a swing tournament where the team will compete in two tournaments in one weekend at the University of Arkansas at Monticello on October 8-10, 2010.
