LSU Shreveport Debate Team Wins First Place

The LSU Shreveport Debate Team took first place in the debate sweepstakes at the inaugural Southern Forensics Championships hosted by the University of Mississippi February 4 through 6, 2011. The team returned with several awards.
Senior accounting major John Mazur and junior English major Rachal Cox won first place in the Team debate division. Cox also took top honors in individual speaking. Senior speech communication major Deanna Candler won the Professional division.
The LSU Shreveport squad is currently in second place in the International Public Debate Association national rankings. The next tournament for LSUS will be hosted by Bossier Parish Community College on February 18-20.
