LA Board of Regents Approves Letter of Intent for Education Doctorate
April 27, 2012
The Louisiana State Board of Regents approved a Letter of Intent for the Doctorate in Educational Learning and Leadership. The program includes a 36 credit-hour core of research and leadership and one of three 27 credit-hour concentrations: PreK-12 school leadership, higher education, or organization performance and change.
"The offering of a terminal degree has been a dream of the Department of Education for a long time; so, it is invigorating to be able to proceed with its development. We receive countless calls from former students, local school administrators, and others who want to know when the program will begin. There are many people in our community and beyond who recognize and appreciate the quality of LSU Shreveport's programs. And, they know the Ed.D. will be no exception," stated Dr. Ruth Ray Jackson, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Education.
The letter of intent will now be developed into a full proposal which must be presented to the Board of Regents again.
