Inaugural Chesapeake Energy Mr. and Ms. LSUS Ambassadors Selected

The inaugural Chesapeake Energy Mr. and Ms. LSUS Ambassador Competition was held Saturday, April 9 in the University Center Theater on the LSUS campus. Sixteen LSUS students vied for the titles and $10,000 in scholarships underwritten by Chesapeake Energy.
The 2011 Chesapeake Energy Mr. & Ms. LSUS Ambassadors are Mr. Patrick Harrington, junior general studies major, and Ms. Tiffany Sandifer, junior electronic media journalism major. First alternates were Mr. Brenton Bird and Ms. Morgan Matthews; second alternates were Mr. Tyler Powell and Ms. Chelsea Thomas; third alternates where Mr. Trey Fauber and Ms. Bre Lewis.
"I feel very lucky, honored, and ultimately blessed to be chosen as the first-ever Mr. LSUS," said Harrington. His goal as Mr. LSUS is to "present the University as one where students not only succeed and prosper academically but where they have ample opportunities to expand their horizons, push the limits, and become better-rounded individuals for life's future ventures."
The innovative and unique contest is based on multiple criteria such as campus leadership and involvement, community involvement, classroom performance, academics, professionalism, communications ability and public speaking skills. Men and women are judged on the same criteria.
Mr. and Ms. LSUS each earn $2,500 scholarships, followed by two first runner-up scholarships of $1,500, two second runner-ups of $750, and two third runner-ups of $250. Title holders will represent the university as goodwill ambassadors and recruiters throughout the coming year.
