Fall Commencement Scheduled for December 19

LSU Shreveport Fall Commencement ceremonies will be held Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, La. The commencement address will be given by Mrs. Paula H. Hickman, executive director of The Community Foundation of North Louisiana.
Mrs. Hickman is an accomplished attorney and a true advocate of the Shreveport-Bossier City communities. She has volunteered with many organizations in the community including: Providence House, Glen Retirement System, Volunteers of America, Shreveport Symphony, Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, and KDAQ Red River Radio. As executive director of The Community Foundation, she strives to create unity among community partners to achieve a vision for a stronger, more vibrant community.
Mrs. Hickman is also the co-founder of the Volunteers of America LightHouse. She is an accomplished attorney, earning her Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama. Her career extends more than 25 years with a passion for making a positive impact in every facet of community life. She was a 2005 Shreveport Times Outstanding Leader and named the 2008 Louisiana Heroine by the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations.
Currently she serves as the executive director of The Community Foundation of North Louisiana. In this capacity, she is responsible for the Foundation's leadership management, strategic planning and development. Her focus is to serve as a collaborator of citizens, nonprofit organizations and governmental entities to create solutions to issues affecting our community.
