We invite community mental health providers, military, and students to join us on Friday, November 10, for "Diagnosing Trauma/PTSD in the Family from Pre-Birth to Combat," presented by Dudley Chewning, EdD, LPC-S, LMFT, and Director of PTSD/TBI Counseling Center of Northwest Louisiana. This program will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at LSUS on the second floor of the Business Education Building. You may earn 3 NBCC CE hours (3 Diagnosis CEUs for LPCs) by attending.
The following will be introduced and discussed:

  • Dr. Vincent Felitti's ACE study to help diagnose childhood PTSD.
  • Dr. Bessel von Der Kolk's discussion on why the DSM should use childhood DTD to cover 33 childhood mental health issues.
  • Converting Dr. Patrick Carnes' Trauma Eggs to Trauma Blocks to diagnose PTSD.
  • Using the Polyvagal theory to diagnose PTSD.
  • Different forms of PTSD and what therapeutic interventions are successful in treating each form.
  • What near epidemic diseases are presenting symptoms of PTSD but have to be cured by the medical profession.
  • Why talk therapies don't work on some forms of PTSD.

The cost is $60 for professionals and $25 for students. This event is complimentary for military and members of Chi Sigma Iota honor society. Payment can be made by cash (exact change), check, or credit card.
