Charter Initiation for Upsilon Pi Epsilon at LSU Shreveport

LSU Shreveport will have the inaugural initiation of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the honor society for computing sciences, Sunday, May 8, 2011. Thirteen members will be initiated: two faculty members, six graduate students and five undergraduate students - two in computer science and three in computer information systems.
Undergraduate students must be a junior or senior with a 3.50 GPA. Graduate students must have completed 15 hours of computer science courses with a 3.50 GPA to be inducted. Faculty members are inducted for holistic reasons. Because this is the inaugural initiation at LSUS, Dr. Orlando Madrigal, UPE Executive Director and Professor Emeritus at California State University Chico, will be in attendance to present the charter and oversee the initial ceremony.
The new chapter at LSUS was organized by Dr. Leslie Fife, Chair of the Computer Science Department. He was initiated into UPE at the University of Oklahoma in 1996.
