LSUS Issues Ban on Hoverboards on Campus Until Further Notice

January 11, 2016

To ensure the safety of the campus community, Louisiana State University Shreveport has made the decision to prohibit the use, possession, or storage of electronic skateboards self-balancing two wheeled scooters, also known as Hoverboards, and other similar equipment on campus and in campus buildings.

The change comes after LSU officials met with their Risk Management and Safety board and determined that the board’s batteries can burst into flame, especially while being charged.  The ban will stay in place until further notice.

LSUS is urging all students travelling back to campus from winter break to leave the devices at home.
