Author to Give Public Reading at LSUS

October 08, 2012

Author Mark Spencer will be on the LSUS campus Tuesday, October 23, at 4:00 pm on the third floor of the LSUS Noel Library for a public reading plus a book signing/Q&A for his new novella, The Masked Demon.

Spencer is a multi-award winning writer of fiction whose honors include The Faulkner Society Faulkner Award, The Omaha prize for the Novel, the St. Andrews Press Short Fiction Prize, and multiple nominations for the Pushcart Prize including four (4) special mentions.

The Masked Demon is a tale of professional wrestling, bigamy, the 1960s, and The Three Stooges.  And that's just the first chapter.  Spencer has been described as a ribald Updike and his fiction as art, comedic and touching with endearing characters and epic small moments.

He is also the owner of the Allen House in Monticello, Arkansas, thought to be one of the most haunted houses in America.  The house has been featured in several paranormal television shows and the Discovery Channel is currently shooting A Haunting based on Spencer's research published in A Haunted Love Story.

The public reading is sponsored by the Honors Program and is underwritten by a gracious donation from LSUS Foundation Board Member Michael Woods.

For further information, contact Dr. Linda Webster at 318-797-5376 or linda.webster@lsus.edu.  This event is free and open to the public.  Handicapped access is available.
