Artist from The Piatigorsky Foundation to Play Concert at LSU Shreveport
October 26, 2011The Piatigorsky Foundation will host Katherine Calcamuggio, mezzo-soprano and David Shimoni, piano, on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the University Center Theater at LSU Shreveport. The concert is free and open to the public.
Calcamuggio is an award winning mezzo-soprano whose talent distinguishes her as one of the most promising young vocalists on the opera scene today. She has received top-prize in the Pamk Beach Opera, Bel Canto and Shreveport Singer of the Year competitions. Calcamuggio holds a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Bowling Green State University.
Shimoni has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist in venues throughout the United States. In 2001, he was the first-prize winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs' Young Artist Auditions. Shimoni has degrees from Swarthmore College and The Juilliard School and is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts at The Graduate Center of the City of New York.
