8th Air Force Commander to Speak Nov. 20 at LSUS Public Event

8th Air Force Commander Richard M. Clark to Conclude Fall Chancellor's Speakers Series Nov. 20 at LSUS; Program is Free and Open to the Public

The leader of the 8th Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, will be the capstone speaker for the LSUS Chancellor's Speaker Series this fall at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20 in the University Center Theater. The program is open to the university community and the public.
Maj. Gen. Richard M. Clark is the Commander, 8th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic) and Joint Functional Component Commander for Global Strike, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Nebraska. "The Mighty Eighth" serves as the air component headquarters to USSTRATCOM for strategic deterrence, global strike, and operates USSTRATCOM's Joint Air Operations Center. The Joint Functional Component Command for Global Strike plans and executes strategic deterrence and global strike operations for USSTRATCOM. Gen. Clark also commands Task Force 204, which oversees the Air Force nuclear bomber and reconnaissance activities in support of USSTRATCOM.

Gen. Clark graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1986. His commands include the 34th Bomb Squadron, Ellsworth AFB, S.D., and 12th Flying Training Wing, Randolph AFB, Texas. He has also served as the Vice Commander, 8th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic), Barksdale AFB, La., and Commandant of Cadets, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Vice Commander of Air Force Global Strike Command.

He is a command pilot with 4,200 flight hours, primarily in the B-1 bomber.
