Watershed
research park largest of its kind in nation
It's
under water much of the winter and spring, but that's
exactly what the 540-acre C. Bickham Dickson Park is
supposed to be. According to Gary Hanson, assistant
professor of environmental science and director of the
LSUS Red River Watershed Management Institute, the area
is a "wetlands, and it's supposed to flood."

/ LSUS Pilots Golf Classic |
Jennifer
Prudhomme, accounting supervisor, and her Harrah's
Casino teammates, give her putt all the help they
can at the Alumni Association fundraiser golf tournament
for the LSUS Pilots baseball team. Watching the
line of the putt are (from rear) Geoff Andres, vice
president of casino operations; Jay Nelson, manager
of direct mail, and Maurice McMillan, executive
pastry chef. A full field of 144 golfers registered
for the tournament, held May 3 at Olde Oaks Golf
Club in Bossier City. Honorary Tournament Director
Jim McCrery, Louisiana's 4th District U.S. Representative,
said the tournament was the best ever in all respects.
Weather threatened to keep the event inside the
clubhouse, but rain held off until the tournament
staff was leaving the golf course parking lot. Next
year's tourney is already being planned. |

FLING SPELLS FUN

| A
variety of activities awaited students - and some
smaller family members - at Spring Fling. The "Battle
of the Bands" had spectators jumping, but not
as high as sophomore business major Ryan Ware (upper
left), guitar player with Down Tribe. Scaling the
U.S. Army's wall are Michael Wright (left), a sophomore
computer science major, and Marcus Punch, an LSUS
physical plant employee. Some people can eat crawfish
all day, but 4-year-old Emily Hughes wants no part
of hers. Keeping their hands on the mudbugs, however,
are dad, Tim, and mom, Barbara, a junior accounting
major. |
