English professors receive grants to run Summer Teacher Institutes
Two English professors have been awarded grants by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities to run Summer Teacher Institutes. These grants represent the LEH's major investment in providing enrichment for elementary, middle and high school teachers.

Dr. Helen Taylor's Institute will focus on novels by British women such as Jane Austen, the Brontes, and George Eliot, and will explore the English village as a setting in these books.

Dr. Sura Rath will offer "Sights and Sounds of the South: Reading Flannery O'Connor," which will focus on the rich fiction of one of the South's most famous writers.

Both Institutes will run July 8 through Aug. 1, and will meet in the mornings. Participants will receive a $500 stipend as well as three hours of graduate credit for their participation. Teachers interested in the Institutes may call 318-797-5369.
