Veteran
PR practitioner assumes LSUS media post
LSUS has named a veteran and award-winning public
relations practitioner and journalist as its director
of media and public relations.
Gregg Trusty assumed the post in late October, replacing
Stuart Parkerson, who is now the university's director
of annual support, a new position in the Development
Office.
An Indiana native, Trusty handled all aspects of public
relations for the Western Electric/AT&T telephone
manufacturing plants in Indianapolis and Shreveport
for more than 25 years. He transferred to Shreveport
from Indianapolis in October 1969. While with AT&T,
he received the corporation's Pro Award and High-Five
Award.
After retiring from AT&T, he was director of public
information and public information advisor to former
Caddo Parish Sheriff Don Hathaway for 5 ½ years.
Immediately prior to joining the LSUS staff, Trusty
was the education and crime writer and Editorial Page
editor for the Bossier Press-Tribune. He received
Louisiana Press Association awards in 2000 for feature
writing and continuing coverage of a governmental
issue, and has been nominated for several 2001 LPA
writing and photography awards, which will be announced
later this spring.
