Tyler
Bridges to be April Author
The 11th annual Authors in April benefit luncheon
for the Pioneer Heritage Center is scheduled for Saturday,
April 20, at noon at Shreveport Country Club. The
featured speaker will be Pulitzer-Prize winner Tyler
Bridges, whose latest book, Bad Bet on the Bayou,
deals with the rise of riverboat gambling in Louisiana
and the fall of former Gov. Edwin Edwards.
The
luncheon costs $40 per person, $25 of which is a donation
to the Pioneer Heritage Center. Reservations and payment
in advance are required. To be included on mailing
list for invitations, call the Pioneer Heritage Center
office, 797-5332.
Bridges
will also conduct a writer's workshop on the third
floor of the Noel Memorial Library Friday afternoon,
April 19. The workshop, while free to interested faculty
and students, requires pre-registration because of
limited space. Register with Dr. Marguerite Plummer,
797-5332 or mplummer@lsus.edu.
