Plans unveiled in October
for Lacy & Edie Williams
Circle of Excellence Plaza

With the beginning of classes this semester, LSUS entered its 40th year of service to the Ark-La-Tex, providing academic excellence, cultural enhancement and economic development to what was and remains the most underserved metropolitan area in Louisiana.

In late October, we unveiled our plans for the Dr. Lacy and Edie Williams Circle of Excellence Plaza, an extraordinary annual campaign concept that will not only be a signature campus landmark, but also give all friends of the university opportunities to express their appreciation for and support of our legacy over the past 40 years. To a person, the reaction to the plaza upon seeing the artists’ renderings has been simply, “Wow!” Students, alumni, faculty, staff and donors have overwhelmingly expressed enthusiasm and excitement for this breathtaking project.

I want to publicly express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Lacy and Edie Williams for their generous underwriting of the plaza and for their unwavering dedication to the vision of continuing excellence they have for LSUS. They stepped forward with the kind of “can do” involvement that will forever enrich our students’ educational experience.

There are several ways individuals and organizations can be a part of this exciting project. Engraved bricks may be purchased for $100 as a means of personal acknowledgement or honoring someone else. Benches, gardens and plaza gateway pavers provide additional opportunities to express personal appreciation or honor a favorite teacher, a close friend or a beloved family member.

I urge you to join me and others who embrace our vision of progress for LSUS by purchasing bricks in the Dr. Lacy and Edie Williams Circle of Excellence Plaza and sharing with the entire university family in celebrating 40 years of excellence..
