LSUS Homecoming ‘voyage’ ready to sail in February 2007

Wow! There are tons of opportunities scheduled over four full days for alumni and students to help celebrate LSUS’ upcoming 40-year anniversary. Alumni will receive invitations in the mail in early 2007 and may also view homecoming information and register online on the Alumni Association’s new Web site at www.lsusalumni.org.

The alumni office would like to especially thank the LSUS Student Activities Board for their collaboration on this exciting event. The following alumni are playing a strategic part on the Homecoming Committee: Randy Brown, BS 1985; Duane Ebarb, BGS 1978; Stephanie Palmer, BA 2003; Frances Pitman, BA 1977; Barbara Rice, BS 1997; Gary Rushworth, BA 2004; Liesl Williamson, BS 1999, MA 2001, and Brian Wooten, BS 1991.

Wednesday, February 21 – Homecoming Week begins:
 Pedometer Challenge begins
 Canned Food Drive begins (Student Organizations can earn points for participating and for placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd)
 7 p.m. – Movie Night– “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” (Student Organizations can earn points for attending)

Thursday, February 22:
 National REC Sports and Fitness Day – Activities for students all day
 Common Hour – Create your own LSUS Spirit T-shirt Contest (Student Organizations can earn points for participating and for placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd)
 4 – 6 p.m. – Kickball/Dodgeball/ MatBall Tournament for all students, staff, faculty and Alumni at the REC Sports Field (Student Organizations can earn points for participating and for placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd)
 7 p.m. – Movie Night – “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” (Student Organizations can earn points for attending)

Friday, February 23:
 Banner/Window Painting Contest (Student Organizations can earn points for participating and placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd)
 6:00 p.m. – Dinner for “Love LSUS-Style” Contest Winners
 8 – 11 p.m. – Homecoming Reception

Saturday, February 24:
 Pedometer Challenge ends
 8 a.m. – Homecoming 5K Run/Walk around LSUS campus (Student Organizations receive points for participating)
 5 p.m. – LSUS Women’s Basketball Game vs. SUNO
o Senior Send-off before the start of the game
 7 p.m. – LSUS Men’s Basketball Game vs. SUNO
o Student Organizations Canned Food Drive collections due
o Alumni bring canned food to game as part of admission fee
o Senior Send-off before the start of the game
o Halftime – Homecoming Court presentation & announcement of Student Organization winners & Pedometer Challenge winners
 9 p.m. – Overtime Party in the University Center Lobby
