Randy Brown
Alumni President
I would like to begin by saying what a pleasure it is to be serving as your LSUS Alum ni Board President for this year. We have an enthusiastic Alumni Board and our new year is off to a great start! We have many exciting projects and activities under way.
As most of you are aware, one of the biggest things happening right now with our Alumni Association is the new Dr. Lacy and Edie Williams Circle of Excellence Plaza. There was a very well-attended press conference held Tuesday, Oct. 24, to formally announce this tremendous project. Lacy and Edie are providing an underwriting gift that will principally cover the construction costs of the plaza. On behalf of the Alumni Association and the Board of Directors, I would like to express our sincere thanks to them for their generosity. This is an enduring gift that will serve our university for many generations to come. Lacy, who is a member of the LSUS Foundation Board of Directors, and Edie, a 1988 LSUS graduate and a member of the Alumni Board, have both given much to LSUS through the years, not only financially, but also in terms of time and commitment. Again, our association expresses sincere gratitude and appreciation for all that they have done for our university!
In closing, I am really looking forward to all our Alumni Association has going on for this board year. We are approaching the 40th anniversary of LSUS and we have great homecoming plans under way! We also have a new Alumni Association Web site that is up and running. And, we are working on the first-ever LSUS Alumni Directory. I am energized by serving as your Alumni Board president and working with an outstanding group of directors. We will all work diligently to make the LSUS Alumni Association the best it can possibly be!! |
