Financial Independence

Dr. Harvey Rubin, (above) professor of finance and holder of the Kilpatrick Life Insurance Endowed Chair for Insurance and Financial Services, makes his point in a session of his intensive Financial Independence for Life seminar. Candace Rhymes (below), a business-accounting and financial math teacher at Southwood High School, shows a seminar student how to complete a calculation. The June seminar curriculum of personal financial planning topics empowered 25 middle and high school students to develop awareness and skills sufficient to live with financial security and independence. At the same time, middle and high school teachers learned how to pass the same information along to other students in their classrooms.
