Global Understanding

Students initiated into Phi Sigma Iota, an international foreign language honor society, gather with their teachers following the initiation ceremonies in late April. Pictured are (from left) Dr. Megan Conway, professor of French; Lillian Moskeland, Spanish instructor; Dr. Lynn Walford, associate professor of Spanish; Rita Cooks; Sarah Taylor, Rachel Sayad; Sam Bailey; Cecelia Smith, French/Spanish instructor; Michael Billings; Alyssa Ortega; Ashley Huckaby; Sam Cannon, and Rachel Waller. The honor society promotes global understanding and unity through the study of foreign languages and foreign cultures. Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, as well as a 3.0 GPA or above in all their foreign language courses. Students much have completed at least one 300 level foreign language course to qualify for membership.
