Conference Tournament Championship Not a Stretch

LSUS junior first-baseman Steffan Primeaux makes the play for the final out to seal a 7-2 victory in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament’s championship game under the watchful eye of umpire Jesse Redwine of Oklahoma City. The throw easily beat the runner, Belhaven College freshman infielder Austin Fagan. The Pilots romped through the GCAC Tournament at Pilots Field undefeated, outscoring their four opponents 37-10 in winning the school’s first-ever GCAC Tournament championship. In a four-day period, the Pilots, who never trailed in a game, defeated Loyola (N.O.) University 5-0; William Carey College 11-2 and 14-6, and Belhaven 7-2.
