Spring
2006 commencement sees 272 graduates
LSUS
graduated 272 students at its spring commencement
exercises Wednesday, May 17, at CenturyTel Center
in Bossier City. Graduate degrees were earned by
64 students and 208 students were awarded undergraduate
degrees.
Of the university’s four academic units, the
College of Liberal Arts had the most graduates with
87, followed by the College of Education and Human
Development with 86, the College of Business Administration
with 65 and the College of Sciences with 34. Reed Dickens, a 2000 graduate of LSUS and a former
assistant White House press secretary under President
George W. Bush, delivered the commencement address
and received the LSUS Alumni Association’s 2006
Distinguished Alumnus Award. Dickens is president and
founder of Outside Eyes, a Newport Beach, Calif., based
public relations strategy and crisis management consulting
firm. In his address, Dickens told the graduates that
the “communications
curricula at LSUS served as the foundation for every
job I’ve had thus far, from the White House to
running a company that serves CEOs, entertainment celebrities
and athletes.”
