Colors of the Rainbow

The Chromatics, a unique high-energy NASA-based vocal band that delights audiences with a combination of outrageous originals, crazy covers, melodic insights into modern life and a smattering of science songs, perform for one of Dr. Laura Whitlock’s classes as part of a well-planned science learning experience for the students. Standing to perform are (top photo standing from left) Karen Smale, Deb Nixon, Barry Mahaffey, Alan Smale, John Meyer and Padi Boyd. The students (bottom photo) worked under the direction of the Chromatics to mix chemistry with delicious treats. Some students made ice cream, while others made chocolate sauce and marshmallow topping. Whitlock, an assistant professor of physics, was instrumental in bringing the Chromatics to Shreveport to work with Sci-Port Discovery Center during the Red River Revel. The performed seven times at the Revel, as well as campus presentations and a special performance at the LSUS Foundation Fall Appreciation Dinner.
