College of Sciences

Since you are a valued graduate of the College of Sciences, we want to keep in touch and let you know more about what we are doing. Our current initiatives include:

§ Operating in a natural wetlands area adjacent to LSUS, The Red River Watershed Management Institute works with the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Geological Survey to help improve water quality and fight coastal erosion.

§ We are using sophisticated equipment donated by LSU Medical Center to create a core laboratory for training students to become competent lab technicians and compete in today’s biotechnology fields.

§ Our faculty is educating outstanding math and science teachers to offset the anticipated shortfall of Louisiana teachers who will retire soon.

§ Our new state-of-the-art Technology Center is drawing new students to our program. In a recent visit, the vice-president of the LSU System said that we have the “best facility in the State.”

With dwindling state support, we need your help more than ever. The Annual Fund is your chance to join the excitement and growth of LSUS.

We’d love to hear from you and find out what you are doing now. Please call my secretary, Cyndi Olson, at 318-797-5231 or email me at Vekovius@lsus.edu to arrange a tour or visit with me or another professor.

Be sure to ask how you can create a named professorship with matching state funds!

You are an asset to us and we are proud to be part of your education and life.
