Sustaining Nonprofits

Dr. Sharon M. Oster (standing), professor of management and entrepreneurship at Yale University’s School of Management, discusses the sustainability of nonprofit enterprises at the Red River Summit for Social Entrepreneurship. Dr. Norman A. Dolch (seated on the far right) listens to Oster’s comments. Dolch is an LSUS professor of sociology, professor designate for the George A. Khoury Jr. Professorship in American Humanics, and is director of the LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy (IHSPP), which presented the summit in cooperation with the National Center for Nonprofit Enterprise. The summit, which was co-sponsored by Service Connection, the Powers Foundation, and the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, was attended by academic researchers, nonprofit managers and business executives who discussed the practical implications of current research on economic issues affecting nonprofit organizations. IHSPP is recognized nationally for its extensive and leading-edge work with nonprofits and the Independent Sector, the fastest growing sector of the nation’s economy.
