Spring
Fling Spells Fun, Spirit, Friendship

Many
games and activities combine to make the annual LSUS
Spring Fling an event filled with fun, spirit and friendship.
(Above left) Reaching for Fun are senior kinesiology
and health science majors Deborah Solomon (left) and
Teresa Pomeroy. The objective is to outreach your opponent
in sticking a Velcro beanbag on the center rail of the
air ride. Deterring the effort are a set of bungee cords
connected to the back of the ride and the backs of the
contestants. So, did Teresa outreach Deborah? LSUS News
knows, but will never tell.
(Above right) Spring is the perfect time of the year
for budding friendships, and what better sign of friends
together (above right) than holding hands and plunging
them into a vat of steaming hot wax! “Ouch,”
is what sophomore criminal justice major Hope Hollins
seems to be saying as the wax forms around her hand
and that of her boyfriend, Karon James, a junior nursing
major at Southern University. The togetherness lasts
for quite awhile, as their hands are dipped repeatedly
into the vat of wax. After the last coat of wax is applied,
cold water is poured inside the mold and the hands are
slipped out, leaving a perfectly formed pair of hands
as a memento of the occasion.
(Left) Byron Larson, a freshman chemistry major, tests
his vertical leap as he reaches as high as he can on
the stack of bars. At the apex, he slaps the bars, swiveling
those he can touch. The game operator then measures
the first untouched bar to determine the height of the
leap.
