Above and Beyond
Shreveport Police Sgt. Brett Bickham presents a $2,000
check to LSUS Chancellor Vince Marsala to fund the Glen
Tompkins Memorial Scholarship. With the contribution,
Shreveport Police Local #75 of the International Union
of Police Associations continued its funding of the
scholarship established in 1984 honoring Tompkins, a
Shreveport police officer killed in the line of duty.
Continued funding comes from Tompkins’ family
and friends and the police union. The scholarship is
awarded to a Louisiana resident who is an LSUS freshman
majoring in criminal justice.
