Casing the Competition

Winners of the Spring 2004 LSUS Integrative Business Case Competition presented the best strategic plan proposal for Bayou Steel, Louisiana’s only steel mill. Playing the role of a consulting firm, team members are (from left) Haley Reggio, Ty McCutcheon, Amanda Poland, Kristina Sojka, Shane Spears, and Lisa Johnson. Every graduating senior participates in the competition, created by Dr. Ken Masters, associate professor of management. In addition to a comprehensive written proposal, each team made a 20-minute presentation of their plan to the Bayou “board,” followed by 10 minutes in which the board could ask questions about the plan. Faculty volunteers from the College of Business Administration played the roles of the firm’s directors.
