Annual Meeting to feature tour of Tech Center

The Annual Meeting of the LSUS Alumni Association has been set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, in the Technology Center. For those who have not been on campus for several years, the Tech Center is the Old Library reborn. Retro-fitting the building took more than three years.

Students use the 90 computer terminals in the new Campuswide Computer Lab to do research on the Internet, write papers and do other class-related work. They can also access their campus e-mail accounts. A tour of the lab and the rest of the newly remodeled Technology Center will be a highlight of this year’s Alumni Association Annual Meeting May 25.

Housed on the first floor of the Tech Center are the new Bookstore, Continuing Education, Conferences & Institutes and Sponsored Research. The Math and Computer Science Department and the office of the Assistant Director of the Pioneer Heritage Center are on the second floor.

Following a networking time with refreshments catered by The Port, alumni and their guests will be treated to a tour of the Tech Center led by Dr. Donna Austin, dean of Continuing Education, and Jeff Key, instructor of computer science. The tour will feature the state-of-the-art Campuswide Computer Lab which boasts 90 PCs and laptops. The lab is unlike any other in Louisiana higher education. Guests will also get a peek at the new Bookstore and Continuing Education.

A brief business meeting is included on the agenda. The 2004-05 slate of officers and nominees for the Alumni Association Board of Directors will be presented. Alumni are welcome to make nominations from the floor at that time. Outgoing directors will also be honored.

All alumni are invited to attend the event, but reservations are required. Please call the Alumni Office at 318-797-5190 to make your reservation. Dues-paying alumni will receive invitations in the mail.
