The Northwest Louisiana celebration of National Philanthropy Day in November honored BellSouth as the philanthropic organization of the year and Joe N. Averett Jr. as volunteer fundraiser of the year. BellSouth officials surprised Chancellor Vince Marsala with the presentation of a $60,000 check to establish the $100,000 BellSouth Professorship in Business Administration at LSUS. Pictured here are (from left) Kevin McCotter, regional director for BellSouth; Marsala; Bill Oliver, president of BellSouth Louisiana, and Averett, president of Crystal Gas Storage, Inc., and a member and past president of the LSUS Foundation Board of Directors. Through its matching program for chairs and professorships, the Louisiana Board of Regents will provide the remaining $40,000 for BellSouth’s endowed professorship.
