In This Case

Winners of the second Business Case Competition were announced at the end of the Spring Semester and are joined here by Louise Wiggins (front left), a member of the College of Business Administration Board of Visitors, and Dr. Jere Hatcher (back right), chair of the Department of Management and Marketing. The winning team members are (front from left) Paul Siharath, Jodie Shuff, and Chris Warner. And (back from left) Michael Washington, Jeffrey Jackson and Jonell Hart. CBA graduating seniors participated in the competition, conducted as a class project by Dr. Ken Masters. Teams of six presented their proposals for Luby’s, Inc., a regional cafeteria chain with locations in Shreveport and Bossier City. The teams played the roles of consulting firms responding to a request for proposal from Luby’s Board of Directors. In addition to a comprehensive written proposal, each team made a 20-minute presentation to the “board,” followed by 10 minutes in which the board could ask questions about the plan. Faculty volunteers from the College of Business Administration played the firm’s directors. The winners were determined by a panel comprising a Luby’s representative and other community leaders.
