Trails of the OMBS
Nature Trail – This is the shortest trail from near the office (Dogwood) along the edge of the creek and all ponds to the dam on the lower end of the largest pond, exiting at the rope bordered trail at the road.
Slate Mine Trail – A rugged trail from the dam of the lower pond up the mountain to the abandoned slate mine in the saddle on the east side of Rattlesnake Mountain. Easy walking but steep.
West Cabin Trail – The longest trail from the front of Phobe to the West Cabin located on the eastern edge of the OMBS West Tract. This trail includes bottomland forest, creeks, and old forest road, and steep mixed forest terrain on the west end. Allow 45-60 minutes to walk one way. Attractive area with much diversity.
Butcherknife Trail – This poorly maintained trail is from the West Cabin to the U.S. Forest Service road in the northern part of the OMBS West Tract.
