The Museum of Life Sciences of Louisiana State University in Shreveport is a research institution devoted to the scientific study of vertebrate animals, spiders, insects, mollusks, and vascular plants.
The catalogued collections include:

Amphibians and Reptiles -- 8,500 specimens

Birds -- 1,800 specimens

Fish -- 600 lots

Insects -- 2,000 specimens

Mammals -- 1,700 specimens

Mollusks -- 2,200 specimens

Spiders -- 1,000 specimens

Vascular Plants -- 45,000 specimens

Data for all specimens is computerized. All specimens are housed in the collection room of the Museum except the plants and insects which are housed in the Department of Biological Sciences. All specimens are available for study. Request for access or study should be made to the Director (Emeritus), Dr. Laurence M. Hardy.

The Bulletin of the Museum of Life Sciences

The bulletin concerns any aspect of the natural history, systematics, or ecology of the flora and fauna of the southeastern United States. Communications regarding manuscripts or the availability of any number of the Bulletin should be addressed to the Museum.
