The
first set of photos are among those donated to the Archives by the late Langston McEachern,
longtime Shreveport Times photographer. Click

The photos date from the late-1940s to the mid-1950s with the exception of the photo
depicting the man speaking at a podium which dates from the mid-1970s.
The photo of the four men seated was taken on the occasion of Earl K. Long’s inauguration
as Louisiana’s governor on May 11, 1948. The man on the left is wearing the white suit and
black tie identifying him as an honorary colonel appointed for the occasion by Earl K.
Long. The other three men are wearing ribbons identifying them as official visitors. |
