The Office of Multicultural Affairs at LSU Shreveport will present a community address by Dr. Robert M. Franklin, president of Morehouse College, on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. The community address entitled “The Foundation of Educational Success” is free and open to the public. There will be a VIP reception on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Noel Memorial Library. Guests can attend the reception for a donation of $25 which will benefit the Office of Multicultural Affairs. |

| The LSU Shreveport International Lincoln Center for American Studies and the Student Activities Board will host the annual Constitution Day event, Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. in the University Center Theater. The guest speaker, Rodney A. Grunes, will give a lecture entitled “The U.S. Constitution: Why it Still Matters.” The event is free and open to the public. |

| Dr. Mario Livio will present a free public lecture and book signing on April 22, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the LSUS University Center Theatre entitled “Our Amazing Universe: The Greatest Achievements of the Hubble Space Telescope”. Dr. Livio has stated “I will review the greatest scientific achievements of the Hubble Space Telescope, from the discovery of "Dark Energy" to the discovery of extrasolar planets. I will show spectacular images from the Hubble, that have allowed us for the first time to probe features of the universe that humans were once able to probe only with their imagination.” The book signing will be held in the University Center lobby immediately following the lecture. Dr. Livio’s three books “The Accelerating Universe”, The Golden Ratio”, and “The Equation that Couldn’t Be Solved” will be available, along with a book featuring the most beautiful of the Hubble Space Telescope images. |

The “LSUS Jazz,” Louisiana State University in Shreveport’s jazz band, will present its fall semester concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the LSUS University Center Theater. The concert, which will also feature the debut of the LSUS University Choral, is free and open to the public. |

The LSUS India Studies Program, the LSUS Foundation, and the Sadhu Vaswani Hindu Cultural Center will sponsor a guest lecture by Swami Parthasarathy, widely regarded as the greatest exponent of Vedanta, the ancient philosophy of India, on Wednesday, Oct 4, at 7 p.m. in the LSUS University Center Theater. His lecture, “Vedanta: Ancient Wisdom in Modern Life,” will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. by a light refreshment reception. |

Another in the ongoing series of mini-concerts put on by the Piatigorsky Foundation at LSUS will be presented at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the LSUS University Center Theater. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature soprano Dana Vachharajani (formerly Dana Bhatnagar) and pianist Jeffrey Grossman. |

| A community forum with 50 scholars from colleges and universities across the United States and abroad will gather at LSUS for its triennial award-winning Presidential Conference Series next month. This year’s conference is devoted to “James and Dolley Madison: Life, Times and Legacy.” |
