H. F. Sockrider, Jr. Pre-Law Scholarship
Purpose:
To assist LSUS undergraduate students whose ambition is to attend law school. It is open on a competitive basis to juniors and seniors of any major whose academic profile demonstrate not only serious interest in attending law school but also the strong likelihood of success in the legal profession.

Selection Criteria:
GPA of 3.2, completed Sockrider Application, a demonstrated interest in attending law school by preparation for LSAT, sitting for the LST no later than June the year before scheduled to graduate from LSUS, participation in the LSDS Program, enrollment in POLI 211, POLI 411, BLAW 332 and CJ 353, and/or completed or will complete a “Law Office Internship” as a runner, and/or U.S. Supreme Court Internship, Supreme Court Historical Society Internship.
Restriction:
Student must be pursuing first undergraduate degree. Award can only be used for the fall and spring semesters. LSUS Financial Aid Office holds the right to adjust in value or cancel scholarship if recipient is receiving other LSUS scholarships or Title IV Federal Student Aid.
Recipient Selection:
Student must submit a Sockrider Application, a copy of their academic transcript and resume by the required due date. The completed packet is submitted to the Pre-Law Adviser, Bronson Hall 321. Additional information is available at wpederso@lsus.edu or 318.797-5138.
