Dr. Brennan received his Ph.D. from Tulane University, where he specialized in the American writer Theodore Dreiser. He has co-authored a book on Irving Babbitt, and has had articles published in such journals as American Notes and Queries, American Literary Realism, Studies in American Fiction, and Dreiser Studies.

Dr. Brennan teaches upper-level and graduate courses on American literature, and a course on the American novel. He is currently at work on a book-length study of Dreiser’s fiction, and a series of entries on Dreiser for the Dictionary of Literary Biography.
