Ron Sereg is Public Relations Professional-in-Residence at Louisiana State University in Shreveport where he teaches courses in public relations. He is an internationally recognized expert on NGO development and ustainability. He began his career as a journalist and later as a press secretary for members of the U.S. Congress. He has served as a media and public relations consultant for a large number of international organizations. He has served as a consultant to the International Foundation for a Civil Society, the US Agency for International Development, Democracy Network Program in Eastern Europe and the Instituto Agropecuaria in Colombia. Also for the International Foundation for Election Systems in Eastern Europe and the Kyrgyzstan Union of Journalists, the United Nations UNESCO Central Asia media program and the Soros Foundation. He was recently a member of the U.S. State Department’s International Selection Committee for the Freedom Support Act Undergraduate Program. He is a 2005 recipient of a Fulbright Grant that took him to Russia where he taught public relations classes and assisted in the development of a public relations program at the Altai Academy of Economics and Law in Barnaul, Siberia. He was a visiting professor of mass communication for the Yale University Civic Education Project in Central Asia where he taught journalism and public relations classes at the American University in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. He is fluent in Spanish and has working knowledge of Russian and several other languages.
