Dr. Palombo received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies from Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges in 1985. She received her Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 1991 and Doctorate in Political Science in 1993 from the Center for Politics and Economics at the Claremont Graduate University, CA. Her areas of concentration include Criminal Justice, Criminology and Research Methodology.

Dr. Palombo joined the faculty at LSUS in 1995, and she has been coordinator of the Criminal Justice Program in the Department of History and Social Sciences. As a faculty member, Dr. Palombo serves on the Student Affairs Committee as well as the college representative for the Graduate Faculty Committee. She is also a graduate faculty member for the Institute for Human Services and Public Policy and a member of professional organizations including the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. She is faculty advisor for the Black Students Association, the Association of Criminal Justice Students and the LSU chapter of the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society.

Dr. Palombo has published and presented research in the area of criminal justice and deviance. Her publications include a book entitled, Academic Professionalism in Law Enforcement (Garland Publishing) and articles and reviews in scholarly journals. Her scholarly research interests include sexual deviance/crimes, white collar crime/deviance, gangs, evaluation of delinquency programs and women in the criminal justice system.

Community activities have included completion of the Shreveport Police Department Citizens' Police Academy as well as a member of the City of Shreveport Mayor's Citizens' Advisory Committee and Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Dr. Palombo also has been a member of the Board of Directors of Project Return, a re-entry program for violent offenders released into the community, and is currently serving as Chair of its Public Affairs Committee.
