Fine Arts
The major thrust of the LSU art program is graphic
design. We have one of the largest and best equipped
computer graphics labs in the state. Graphic design
graduates regularly find employment with local
advertising agencies, outdoor sign companies, corporate
art departments, printers, and speciality companies
such as silk screening. Several of our students
are internationally known for computer game design.
Our department also offers the student interested
in classical art a variety of course options including
various levels of drawing, sculpture, acrylic painting,
watercolor, art history and ceramics.
Spanish
Students who major in Spanish acquire the necessary
reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
that enable them to use the Spanish language
with ease and precision. In addition, they study
the culture and literature of Spain and Latin
America, and may elect to take specialized courses
designed for specific professions in the areas
of business, law enforcement, and health care.
A degree in Spanish is highly beneficial for
students interested in a wide variety of careers,
including teaching, law, medicine, translating
and interpreting, and the social services, to
name just a few.
French
The French major gives students a solid background
in and an understanding of the language, culture,
and literature of France. Students learn to read,
write and communicate in French. Mastery of a
second language opens doors to a broad spectrum
of career opportunities in fields of tourism,
fashion design, teaching, law, translation, the
food industry, and business B to name only a
few. Combined with LSUS's International Studies
Minor, the French major is particularly attractive
to employers with global interests who need employees
who can speak another language and who are sensitive
to cultural differences.
