BA Public Relations  2000

Originally from Monroe, Louisiana, Reed graduated from LSUS in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations.  He began his public service on then-Governor Bush's 2000 presidential campaign.  Eventually, Reed served as Assistant Press Secretary for the White House.  He was the liaison to the National Press Corps and managed a staff of five.  His responsibilities included facilitating the President’s press schedule, press releases, statements, and background information for national press.  Reed planned and executed press conferences at the White House, Camp David, and over 30 countries while dealing with international media as well.  Reed traveled to over 20 countries as a member of the team that planned the President’s press coverage, travel logistics, and public schedule with foreign leaders. Altogether, Reed traveled with the President for three years to over 30 countries and 40 states.

As Campaign National Spokesperson for Bush – Cheney 2004, Reed was responsible for helping design long term strategy while conducting weekly appearances on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, FOX and daily interviews on various national radio shows.  As Regional Press Secretary – Southeast, Reed was responsible for message strategy for 11 states as well as being the primary television and radio spokesman for the Southeast region.

During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Reed was sent by the White House to serve as the Deputy Director of Coalition Information Center in Qatar and Baghdad.  His primary responsibilities were as the liaison to the White House from Coalition headquarters during the combat phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Reed drafted daily situation reports from the theater of operations to the White House Press Secretary and National Security spokespersons that served as message-planning documents during combat operations.  He was also responsible for briefing Generals for daily press conferences.

Wanting to take a break from politics, Reed recently moved to southern California and started his own public relations company.  Ironically, his first client was Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Outside Eyes, an alternative to conventional PR firms and mass media advertising, delivers measurable results to produce comprehensive public relations strategies and PR campaigns by using scientific research and targeted media. They help companies take their current budget and use specialty services such as polling, research, direct mail, grassroots campaigns, media events, and internet advertising—methods you can measure—to produce results you can see.
