Useful Tips for Voice Mail

  • Log in from Anywhere
    From on-campus, dial 5010, and log in using your extension and password.From off-campus, dial 797-5010 (and the area code if long distance), and log in using your extension and password.
  • Log in Quickly
    From your phone, dial 5010, press # only (you do not need to type your extension), and enter your password.
  • Navigate Menus Quickly
    If you know what buttons to push, push them without waiting for the system to respond.
  • Use Help
    For help, press *H (*4). The system states your current options or the next step.
  • Scan Messages Quickly
    You can automatically play all of your messages by pressing just two buttons. Use Activity Menu Option 7.
  • Skip the Mailbox Greeting
    When you call another AUDIX user and get the user's mailbox greeting, press 1 to skip the greeting and record your message immediately.

Setting Up Your Voice Mail for the First Time

  1. Dial AUDIX at 5010.
  2. Enter your extension number followed by the '#' sign.
  3. Enter '1' as your temporary password followed by the '#' sign.
  4. To record your name, press '1' and speak your first and last name.
  5. When finished, press '1' again.
  6. To approve, press '#.'
  7. To create a new password, enter the new 7-digit number followed by the '#' sign.
  8. Re-enter your password followed by the '#' sign once more.
    NOTE: You will not have to record your name or create a password again.

Checking Your Voice Mail

  1. Dial AUDIX at 5010 (797-5010 from off-campus).
  2. Enter your extension number followed by the '#' sign. (NOTE: If you are calling from your extension, you can just enter '#.')
  3. Enter your password and then the '#' sign.
  4. Choose Option 2 to Get Messages.
  5. After listening to the first message header, press 0 to listen to the message or # to skip to the next message.
  6. Press *D (*3) to delete a message.
  7. Any messages not deleted will remain in your account.

Recording a Greeting
(NOTE: If you do not record and activate a greeting, AUDIX will use the system greeting. The system greeting says, "Your call is being answered by AUDIX. <YOUR RECORDED NAME> is not available/busy. To leave a message, wait for the tone. Otherwise, for assistance, press 0 now. Record at the tone.")

  1. Call AUDIX and log in.
  2. Press 3 at the Activity Menu.
  3. To record a new greeting, Press 1.
    Enter the number you would like to assign to that greeting. (You can have up to 9 greetings recorded at one time. Only one can be the active greeting at any given time.
  4. Speak your greeting at the tone.
  5. Press 1 to edit the greeting, or # to accept the greeting as recorded. Press 2, 3 to listen to the greeting.
  6. Press 1 to use this greeting for all calls.

Changing Your Password

  1. Log in to AUDIX.
  2. Choose Option 5 at the Activity Menu. (NOTE: This option will not be listed.)
  3. Choose Option 4 to Change Your Password.
  4. Enter your new password (must be 7-digits) and press #.
  5. Re-enter your new password and press #.

Changing Your Recorded Name

  1. Call AUDIX and log in.
  2. Press 5 at the Activity Menu (Note: This option is not listed in the spoken menu).
  3. Press 5 again to record your name.
  4. At the tone, say your name.
  5. Press 1 to stop recording.
  6. Press # to approve your recording.
