Telephone Support :: Using Your Phone

General Phone Instructions
There are two types of telephones on the LSUS campus - analog and digital. Digital phones have the caller information display window and multiple feature buttons. All other phones are analog.

Placing a Call
To place a call to an on-campus extension, just dial the extension directly without the prefix. If you are calling off-campus, you must first dial 9 to get an outside line then dial the number including the prefix.

Local numbers do not require that you dial the area code, but long distance calls do require the area code. If you wish to make an international call, please consult the information section of your BellSouth phone book.

Please note that some phones are set up to allow only certain types of calls. For example, some phones on campus are only allowed to call local numbers, 800-numbers, and 911. Others can call internationally. If you are unsure of your phone's capabilities, please call 5399 for assistance. Changes to your calling privileges must be approved by your Director or Department Head.
