LSUS Institute in Top Five of all U.S. Certifying Institutions (8/25/2009) |
The LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy was recently named one of the top five certifying institutions for the American Humanics National Certification in Nonprofit Management and Leadership by the American Humanics National Alumni Association. The LSUS American Humanics National Certification Program has been certifying undergraduate and graduate students since 1995. |
American Humanics Volunteer Fair (11/2/2007) |
| The American Humanics held it's 14th Semi-Annual Volunteer Fair on Thursday, November 1 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Approximately 75 LSUS students visited the 20 nonprofit booths set up to recruit volunteers. Some of the nonprofits present included Think First, YWCA, Gingerbread House, Volunteers of America, Goodwill, Providence House, Sci Port Discovery Center, and Girl Scouts. The Volunteer Fair is held every spring and fall by the American Humanics Student Organization. |

LSUS Institute to offer two new programs in spring (11/1/2006) |
| The LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy will launch two new programs in spring 2007. “Life Course and Aging Studies” classes will be offered as an academic minor, while the “Certificate in Service Learning” curriculum is a 12-credit-hour program available to students of all majors. |

The LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy has created a new website to better publicize its mission and services to student, faculty, staff, and the public. The Institute offers several services ranging from educational programs to nonprofit grantwriting. |

| The LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy is offering two summer noncredit courses in nonprofit administration. Both classes will be offered in online and on-site classroom format. |
Institute to host small nonprofit conference (4/1/2006) |
| The LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy will host the 2006 Small Nonprofit Conference: Philanthropy and Fundraising” from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday (April 25) in the LSUS University Center. The conference is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. |
LSUS American Humanics to host 10th Volunteer Fair April 13, 2006 (4/1/2006) |
The 10th Semi-Annual LSUS American Humanics Volunteer Fair will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006, in the Lobby of the LSUS University Center and will feature representatives from organizations such as Chimp Haven, Habitat for Humanity, the Philadelphia Center, the Food Bank, Volunteers of America and the YWCA. The event, scheduled to be at its apex during LSUS “Common Hour” for the convenience of students, faculty and staff, is free and open to the public. |
