Institutional Effectiveness and Planning

Planning and Assessment

Institutional effectiveness presumes that an institution is engaging in ongoing, integrated, and institution-wide research-based planning and evaluation processes that incorporate a systematic review of programs and services that (a) result in continuing improvement and (b) demonstrate that the institution is effectively accomplishing its mission. Institutional effectiveness provides documentation of planning, assessment, and the use of results in decision-making. Every division, college, and department has developed a five-year Strategic Plan and an Annual Assessment Plan (matrix) that include:

  • a vision, mission, and philosophy statement
  • linkage to LSUS Goals
  • objectives with intended outcomes
  • assessment/evaluation measures/strategies
  • assessment/evaluation results
  • improvement plans/changes made
