Foreword

This handbook is designed to help faculty carry out responsibilities, including teaching, student advising, and research. In addition, certain administrative and student matters as well as fiscal policies are included.  The Office of Academic Affairs encourages suggestions for additions and revisions to the handbook.

LSU System policies are in the Bylaws and Regulations of the Board of Supervisors.  Occasionally these regulations are extended, elaborated on, and/or explained by Permanent Memoranda (PM's) issued by the Office of the President and available in the offices of the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs as well as the LSU System website.  The following identifies those of more general interest:

The Board of Regents also has a manual, Policies and Procedures, which is comparable to the System Permanent Memoranda and the campus Policy Statements.

As an accredited university of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, LSUS subscribes to the Principles of Accreditation:  Foundations for Quality Enhancement (2004 copyright). In addition, academic policies of the Board of Regents are reflected in the LSUS Procedures Manual for Courses And Curricula, copies of which are available in department chairs' and deans' offices.
